Went to salon, stylist colored hair burgundy instead of red...help!?

I asked for red..and I'm thinking like susan saranden red or like maybe that girl from buffy. More natural orangish, right?? and she runs off to mix the color, without asking specifics. After its washed out, its totally burgundy, which is freaking hideous!!! Is there any way to lighten this without turning it scarlet or pink??
