So can't the judicial system get on fastrack for someone like Jared Loughner?

Our system doesn't allow for exceptions, because he has the same rights as you. That's how equality works. Sure, he pulled the trigger, but is he mentally ill? If he is, then that's a defense and his lawyers need time to build that case. Right now, he is eating bologna sandwiches in a county jail; he costs pennies per day to house. After he is sentenced to death, he will cost a fortune to house until all his appeals are run. Either way, he won't be executed for 20 years, so take pride in your system. No one in america will go from accused to dead in three days, like in other countries.
