Is the whole preoccupation with Creationism vs Big Bang a bit premature?

Ok I gotta say it electron telescopes arnt for deep space viewing. Ok now that that's done... The reason we have theorys for stuff like the beginning of time and such when we clearly don't know is that if we didn't have the theorys on that stuff scientists in general would look stupid and as a lot of money goes into research in those areas if they didn't have results to show for it they couldn't justify it. Yes we know we are still just learning how the world works and believe me when I say a philosopher will sooner find out what the universe is made out of then a scientist.
